New York, New York – On the eve of its 50th anniversary, the Hilton New York has been renamed  New York Hilton-Midtown, honoring  its Manhattan neighborhood.

Besides Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Central Park, Carnegie Hall, Fifth Avenue and St. Patrick’s Cathedral are all close by. The 1,981-room  hotel is a short walk from Times Square, Broadway theaters and  Fifth Avenue shopping.  For more info:  www.hiltonnewyorkhotel.com

Element Hotels Join Earth Hour With Candlelit Vigil

Standard

Planet Earth — It doesn’t seem quite right that we give dear old Planet Earth a day let alone an hour only each year. Consider what i does for us and how little we do for it. Anyhow, on March 23, during Earth Hour as communities around the world symbolically switch off the lights — and presumably turn them back on; thought:  leave them off and see if you really need them on — from 8:30-9:30 p.m., all Element hotel lobbies will transition to candlelight. Hotel guests nationwide will be invited to toast Mother Earth during a celebratory “Happy Earth Hour,” with drink sales benefitting the World Wildlife Fund.

image002Drinks will be served from new, rolling bar carts making their debut across Element brand lobbies.  The bars give new meaning to the extended stay hotel experience offered at Element. They invite guests to linger in the hotels’ spacious and inviting lobbies well after enjoying complimentary  evening receptions, typically hosted from 5-7 p.m. by each hotel.

Going forward, if all hotels in the world turned off their lights during daytime, we’d save an awful lot of fuel. That’s something worth drinking to.
