The Charles Hotel opens Benedetto


soppressata-and-white-bean-bruschetta-with-grilled-red-onionCambridge, MA — At the end of November, The Charles Hotel and Chef/Owner Michael Pagliarini, of Giulia fame, opened Benedetto in the space previously occupied by Chef Jody Adams’ Rialto.

Designed by the acclaimed New York-based Bentel & Bentel architectural team, Benedetto is a rustic farmhouse-chic Italian restaurant with an outdoor patio. Two separate dining areas are also available for private bookings and events, with each able to comfortably accommodate 20-75 guests.

Cambridge, MA — The Charles Hotel is bringing back its popular Author’s Breakfast Series this summer with a joint event hosted by writers Meghann Foye and Nora Zelevansky. Both authors have recent books to talk about: “Meternity,” and “Will You Won’t You Want Me?” Both ladies will lead book readings, followed by a discussion.
This is the first time the hotel’s  Author’s Breakfast event will be led by two authors, who are reputedly friends adding to the friendliness of the kick off the hotel’s latest Author’s Breakfast season. 
The breakfast will be held at the farm-house chic eatery, Henrietta’s Table and will allow attendees to have casual conversations with the authors. Tickets can be purchased online here.

The Charles Hotel’s Henrietta’s Table hosts Victor Hugo Wine Dinner

Cambridge, MA — On March 2, The Charles Hotel’s Henrietta’s Table will host a Victor Hugo Wine Dinner featuring a four-course menu curated by Executive Chef Peter Davis. Naturally, the dishes will be expertly paired with wines from the literary named Victor Hugo Winery, and the dinner will feature cheeses from Massachusetts’ Shy Brother’s Farm and Ruggles Hill Creamery. The menu will highlight New England produce, including seared Arcadian red fish accompanied by celery root puree, and Pineland Farm sirloin with roasted shittake demi-glaze,  Greta’s Fair Haven roasted Gilfeather potato puree, and crispy parsnip.

Charles Hotel offers Tea and Dessert with Cokie

Roberts will be signing her latest book, Capital Dames, The Civil War and the Women of Washington, 1848-1868, and presiding over  dessert and tea, or coffee.

Charles Hotel’s Rialto restaurant hits 20



Cambridge, MA — Chef Jody Adams recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of her signature Italian restaurant, Rialto. Tucked inside the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square, the elegant modern space was closed to the public for a private celebration.


On arrival, guests were given take-home wine glasses etched with the event’s date. Before they became souvenirs, though, the glasses were filled with tasty Italian wines to enjoy with a variety of small plates created by guest chefs such as Joanne Chang (Flour) — her chocolate mousse was not to be missed. (PS: We did not miss it!)

The Charles Hotel’s Guests and Neighbors Get Freebie Spa Treats!


Cambridge, Mass  – In celebration of its first year, The Charles Hotel’s Corbu Spa & Salon has launched a new organic skin care line and is offering complimentary treatments to hotel guests and, well, anyone in the neighborhood.

Located in the heart of Harvard Square, Corbu Spa & Salon showcases farm to spa treatments in alignment with The Charles Hotel’s long dedication to the movement. Corbu has introduced Eminence, a handmade, cruelty free organic skin care line from Hungary into their treatments.

For a limited time the complimentary mini treatments include: Taste a Facial, Organic Luscious Lip Treatment, or the Organic Bright Eye Lift.  Each treatment is 15 minutes in length and available by appointment only, September 10 – 12 and September 17 – 19.

Also, this fall, Corbu’s seasonally inspired ingredient is Cranberry Brown Sugar, which is available as a body wrap, body scrub, manicure or pedicure.  The Cranberry Brown Sugar treatments gently exfoliate while nourishing and feeding your skin with essential nutrients.

Corbu will also debut a special seasonal facial, the Harvest Experience, as part of its fall menu. The Harvest Experience Facial focuses on erasing the damage brought on by the summer sun and protecting skin for the changes it’s about to endure through the winter months.
